Ashley Pharoah

Ashley is a graduate of The National Film and Television School where his graduation film, Water's Edge, was nominated for a BAFTA and won several international awards. He joined BBC flagship soap EastEnders in 1991 and over four years contributed over 40 episodes as well as playing a key role in storylining the show. In 1995 he helped to set up the BBC hit drama series Silent Witness and over on ITV he was co-creating and writing Where the Heart Is - a show that was to prove a ratings success for 10 years.
Ashley's knack for generating audience-pleasing family drama continued with BBC One's Down To Earth which starred Warren Clarke and Pauline Quirke and ratings success with Wild at Heart for ITV, which originally starred Amanda Holden and Stephen Tompkinson and has recently welcomed new girl, Jesse Wallace, to the fold. Wild at Heart is being remade for the CW Network in the United States.
Ashley has two recent adaptations to his name, Tom Brown's Schooldays for Company Pictures (starring Stephen Fry and Alex Pettyfer) and Under the Greenwood Tree for Ecosse Films (starring Keeley Hawes).
Ashley co-created Life On Mars with Matthew Graham and Tony Jordan and has written for both series of the acclaimed show. Life on Mars is also being reformatted for the US, with David E Kelly at the helm.
In September 2006 he co-founded Monastic Productions with Matthew Graham.
Ashley and Matthew are creators and lead writers on Ashes to Ashes (a Kudos production in association with Monastic Productions), the sequel to Life on Mars. Starring Phillip Glenister and Keeley Hawes Ashes to Ashes recently launched on BBC One to over seven million viewers.
Ashley and Matthew's newest creation, Bone Kickers (a co-production from Monastic Productions and Mammoth Screen) is another high concept drama about archaeologists, and is currently being filmed in Bath for BBC One with Julie Graham, Adrian Lester and Hugh Bonneville taking the lead roles.
